The Seacare Hotel complex was awarded with the Merit Award for “The Innovative, Efficient and Productive Use of Steel Structures in the Build Environment” in the category of Commercial or Retail Structures.
The ceremony that took place on August 28th at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Singapore celebrated the recognition of steel structural engineering excellence in Singapore and the engineers’ contribution to the built environment.
The Seacare Hotel project involved a 16-storey hotel tower which extends over the existing office block. Transfer trusses were proposed at the 13th storey to cater for the loads from the upper storey of the hotel building and support the transfer floors. All columns and beams are steel structures in order to reduce the self-weight of the building above the 13th storey.
The scheme and design of the project was executed by ECAS Consultants Pte Ltd and Archispace + Designs. Construction was carried out by Union Contractors (S) Pte Ltd and the steel fabricator WY Steel Construction Pte Ltd.
This is the second time that ECAS Consultants Pte Ltd has been recognized at the Structural Steel Excellence Awards. In 2007, ECAS received an award for the “Distinguished Use of Structural Steel for its Creativity, Value, and Innovation” for their work at the Alexandra Link Bridge.
At the time of the award, ECAS was known as ECAS-EJ Consultants Pte Ltd.
